- P.Susheela's first song in films at the age of 16 was the song "edharku azaithaayo" in the movie 'Petra thaai' (1951) directed by Nageswara Rao.

- P.Susheela was the first female singer in the country to win the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1969 at at the 16th National Film Awards for the song "Paal Polave - Naalai indha velai paarthu" in the Tamil film Uyarndha Manidhan.

- P.Susheela and TMS sang the song "Niraarum Kadal Udutha" from Manonmaniam which was adapted as Thamizh Thai Vaazhthu, "Invocation to Goddess Tamil" and approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu as the official Tamil anthem in June 1970. National and State awards for the film Thunaivan
A.Maruthakasi, lyricist for Tamil films received the 1969 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards - Best Lyricist for the song 'Marudhamalai yaane' and K. B. Sundarambal received the National Film Award as well as the Tamil Nadu State Film Award in 1969 for Best Female Playback Singer and Balamurugan was awarded Best Story Writer.

Bharathidasan has penned lyrics for several Tamil film songs such as `Vennilavum vaanum pole... ' from the movie Kalyanam Panniyum Brahmachari, `Thunbam nergaiyil inbam... from Or Iravu, `Thamizhikku amudhendru per... ' from Panchavarna Kili and `Sange muzhangu... ' from Kalangarai Vilakkam.

He has also written the story, script and songs for films including Valaiyapathi, Aayiram Thalaivaangiya Apoorva Sindhamani, Aadhithan Kanavu.

The film Kalyanam Panniyum Bramhachari (1954) had melodious music (composer T. G. Lingappa) with lyrics by K. D. Santhanam and others. Today not many are aware that a peppy song, ‘Jolly life….jolly life …' was filmed on Sivaji Ganesan with Chandra Babu lending his voice! The song became popular.

In the film Kalyanam Panniyum Bramhachari (1954) the music director was TG Lingappa with lyrics by K. D. Santhanam and others.
But the song Vennilavum vaanum pole sung by Radha Jayalakshmi was composed by Dhandapani Desikar with lyrics by Bharathidasan.
