Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

* 14 Jan 2022
There is nothing higher than faith. “You have heard how powerful faith is. The Purana says that Ramachandra, the perfect incarnation of Brahman and Narayana, had to build a bridge to reach Lanka. But Hanuman had such great faith in the name of Rama that, taking Rama’s name, he was able to jump across the sea. He had no need for a bridge. “Bibhishana wrote Rama’s name on a leaf and tied it in the folds of the cloth of a man who wanted to cross the sea. Bibhishana said to him, ‘Fear not. Have faith and walk across the sea. But mind you, as soon as you lose your faith, you will drown.’ The man walked easily onto the water, but he was seized with intense curiosity to see what was tied in
the folds of his cloth. He untied it and saw that it was just the name of Rama written on a leaf. He said to himself, ‘What! Just the name of Rama?’ In the instant that he lost faith, he sank.
“One who has faith in God can be saved from the vilest of sins, no matter what he may have done - killed a cow, a brahmin, or a woman. Let him only say, ‘I shall not do so again.’ Then he need not be afraid of anything.”

'Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita' in Bengali (The Nectar of Sri Ramakrishna's Words) is five-volume work by M (Mahendra Nath Gupta), first published at Kathamrita Bhawan, Calcutta in the years 1902, 1904, 1908, 1910 and 1932 respectively.

The words of Sri Ramakrishna as M. (Mahendranath Gupta) recorded them in his diaries from 1882 through 1886. Conversations With Sri Ramakrishna is a word-for-word translation into English of Ramakrishna's conversations as they occurred. The translation was written out in longhand virtually without erasure or correction and appears in exact form as the translator, Sachindra Kumar Majumdar, took it off the pages of M.'s five volumes published in Bengali.
